A journey through nature and culture

Our country house is the ideal starting point for cycling enthusiasts wishing to explore the wonders of Tuscany. Surrounded by unspoilt countryside, full of scenic routes and white roads, it offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region.

From Colle Alberti you can access a network of cycling routes that wind through rolling hills, vineyards and olive groves. These routes, suitable for cyclists of all levels, allow you to explore the surroundings away from city traffic and, in some cases, lead through nature reserves and protected parks where you can admire the local flora and fauna. The white roads, typical of Tuscany, offer ideal terrain for cycling, with breathtaking landscapes at every turn.

The areas around the villages of Vinci and Cerreto Guidi, in the heart of Chianti Montalbano, are all splendid destinations.

Exploring the area

The areas around the villages of Vinci and Cerreto Guidi, in the heart of Chianti Montalbano, are all splendid destinations.

The municipality of Cerreto Guidi is best known for the Villa Medicea, built as a hunting lodge for the powerful Florentine family and later becoming the residence of Isabella de' Medici. This Renaissance villa, built at the behest of Grand Duke Cosimo I de' Medici in the 16th century, is now a UNESCO heritage site and houses a museum dedicated to hunting.

Nearby you can visit the famous town of Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci, the greatest genius of the Renaissance. The town is situated on a hill overlooking the Arno valley. Some major points of interest include Leonardo's Birthplace, a country house located in Anchiano, a few kilometers from Vinci, where Leonardo is believed to have been born. The house is now a museum, displaying reproductions of Leonardo's works and offering an insight into his life. Also visitable is the Museo Leonardiano, located in the Conti Guidi Castle, which houses a large collection of models of Leonardo's inventions, drawings and manuscripts.

From Colle Alberti, you can also reach some of Tuscany's most fascinating art cities in a short time: from Florence to Pisa, Lucca and Pistoia, but also San Gimignano, Volterra, Monteriggioni, Siena, Bagno Vignoni and the Abbey of San Galgano with the sword in the rock... each city offers a unique combination of art, history and culture, which will enrich your trip with unforgettable experiences.

Thanks to its strategic location, day trips can be organized to several interesting destinations, first and foremost the Cinque Terre, with its charming coastal villages and breathtaking views of the sea, or seaside resorts such as Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio.

For wine lovers, a visit to the Bolgheri wine production area is a highly recommended option.

Thanks to its central location, Colle Alberti Country House is an ideal starting point for exploring all the major places of interest in Tuscany.

The wine cellar of Tenuta Colle Alberti

Tenuta Colle Alberti is the largest estate in the municipality of Cerreto Guidi, in the Chianti DOCG production area. With an extension of about 250 hectares, the estate offers a unique experience for wine and wine culture lovers. During a visit to our wine cellar, you will have the opportunity to get to know and taste our wines.
You can listen to the fascinating history of this place and learn about the stages of wine production, but also, depending on the season, learn about and observe directly the threshing of grain and the olive harvest.

On the highest level of the cellar, as tradition dictates, is the vinsantaia. Here, 30 casks are used to store and age Vin Santo. The special location of the vinsantaia allows the kegs to be exposed to the necessary seasonal changes in temperature, an essential element for the production of the award-winning Vin Santo and Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice DOC. In addition to wines, the farm also produces extra virgin olive oil, a precious food for health and well-being.

Adjacent to the wine cellar is the farm's old oil mill, no longer in use, but home to a private collection of agricultural tools from the past, including some iron and wooden plows, a traditional olive mill, and many rare agricultural objects.

By planning a visit between September and December, there is a chance to experience first-hand the exciting period of the grape and olive harvest. These experiences offer a unique opportunity to witness and participate in the traditional processes that give life to the extra virgin olive oil and wines of Colle.
